OSONE Pro Chiller 3-Stage Filtration

PRO Chiller

Powered by 1.0HP & 3-Step Filtration including UV-C to eliminate bacteria growth, keep your water cleaner for longer. Water temperatures as low as 36°F.

Built on wheels for effortless mobility and reduced exposure to debris and moisture.

Ultraviolet light is used as a form of water sanitation.

  1. Disinfection and Sterilization: UV light is effective at killing or inactivating microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and mold. In cold plunge chillers, UV lamps are often incorporated into the filtration system to disinfect the water. This ensures that harmful pathogens do not grow or thrive in the cold water, making the experience more hygienic and safe.
  2. Prevention of Biofilm: Cold plunges can develop biofilms — slimy layers formed by bacteria. These biofilms can affect water quality and even clog filters. UV light helps to break down and prevent the formation of these biofilms by killing the bacteria that contribute to their formation.
  3. Maintains Water Clarity and Freshness: By killing microorganisms and preventing the buildup of organic matter, UV light helps keep the water clear and fresh, improving the overall experience of the cold plunge.

UV-C light in cold plunge chillers helps maintain clean, hygienic water. It enhances safety, improves water quality, and ensures the longevity of the system by preventing the growth of harmful microorganisms.

Able to reach temperatures as low as 36°F as quickly as 3-5 hours from setup. Once initial temperature is reached, effectively maintains temperature with twice the cooling speed of a 0.5HP Chiller.

Pro Chiller comes with a Dual Filter System: Mesh Particle Filter to capture large debris and 15-Micron Filter to catch small debris.

A micron rating refers to the size of the particle a filter can effectively capture. A 15-Micron Filter can capture particles such as dirt, sand, debris, and microorganisms that are 15 microns in size or larger. It helps keep the water clean by removing visible debris, larger microorganisms, and particles that might affect water quality or comfort.

The smaller the micron #, the finer the debris being captured from entering your cold plunge.

Cooling speed depends on a number of factors: starting water temperature, insulation of the cold plunge, ambient temperatures and desired set temperature. On average, this Chiller will cool water at 4°F - 7°F per hour.

Cooling Power

Cooling rates are fastest when water temperature is at its highest. Chiller will cool faster earlier and slower as it's reaching 40°F.

Ambient temperatures have a dramatic effect on cooling rates. Chillers placed indoors will cool faster than outdoors especially during warmer months.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to setup Pro Chiller?

Approximately 5-10 minutes. The Pro Chiller comes with all necessary parts and instructions for setup. You will receive a series of step-by-step youtube videos referencing everything you need for setup and maintenance.

Can I use a standard outlet?

The Pro Chiller uses a Standard 120V Outlet. We recommend using an isolated GFCI outlet, if possible.

How often should I change the filter?

Lower micron ratings offer superior filtration and require more frequent replacement due to higher particle accumulation. A 5-micron filter captures significantly more debris than a 15-micron filter.

We recommend replacing the filter as follows:

5-Micron replace every 2-4 weeks

15-Micron replace once a month

This will help maintain cleaner water, ensure stronger water flow and reduce strain on your chiller’s components.

A primary indicator of a dirty filter is diminished output. If the filter is not readily accessible for inspection, monitor the flow rate; a dirty filter will progressively restrict water circulation and may eventually cause a total system blockage.

Are filter changes important?

Maintaining your chiller’s filter regularly is not just a routine task; it's essential for prolonging the unit's lifespan and ensuring its efficiency. Here's why:

  1. Preventative Measure: Regular filter maintenance acts as a protective shield for your chiller. It prevents dust, dirt, and other impurities from accumulating, which can cause the system to work harder than necessary.
  2. Avoid Expensive Repairs: When filters aren't changed frequently, debris can build up, leading to potential damage. This not only results in costly repairs but can also render the chiller inoperative for extended periods.
  3. Energy Efficiency: A clean filter allows for optimal airflow, reducing energy consumption. This means your chiller won't have to expend extra energy to maintain temperature, resulting in lower utility bills.
  4. Optimized Performance: Keeping the filter clean ensures the chiller operates at peak performance. This means consistent, reliable cooling for your needs without unexpected breakdowns.
  5. Warranty Protection: Neglecting filter changes could void your warranty so we highly suggest frequently replacing your filter in order to keep your cold plunge chiller operating at it's optimal level.

In summary, regular filter maintenance is a small investment that reaps significant benefits. It's a crucial step in ensuring your chiller remains functional, efficient, and cost-effective for years to come.

Can I run the chiller 24/7?

Yes. The chiller is intended to run continuously to keep water circulating at all times, supporting optimal cleanliness and helping prevent bacterial growth associated with stagnant water. The pump will constantly circulate water while the compressor will only turn on during cooling periods +5°F over your Set Temperature.

Can the chiller be outside?

Yes, OSONE Chillers can be outside and we highly recommend setup under an awning or lanai. To increase the life of the chiller, the chiller should be under a covered area to prevent direct sunlight and exposure from the elements. Outside temperature directly affect cooling times and chiller output so keep this in mind during setup and positioning.

Chillers operating indoors have proven to use less energy and are better protected from the elements which can increase the life of the chiller. For any additional questions, feel free to chat in!

Is the OSONE Pro Chiller compatible with other brands?

Connect OSONE Pro Chiller with DESERT PLUNGE

Connecting the OSONE Pro Chiller (1.0 HP) to your Desert Plunge tub is an excellent match, and it's actually going to be incredibly easy because their plumbing sizes are identical.

Both the Desert Plunge tub and the OSONE Pro Chiller utilize 3/4" connections so there will not be any water flow restriction.

The OSONE Pro Chiller comes with standard 3/4" steel braided hoses, all you need is one 3/4" male to 3/4" male stainless steel adapter (not included but available upon request):

How They Line Up:
  1. Tub Outlet (Bottom) to Chiller Inlet:The Tub: Has a 3/4" Male thread. The Chiller Hoses: OSONE's steel braided hoses feature standard female connectors on the ends. The Hookup: One end of the OSONE hose will screw directly onto the bottom male port of your Desert Plunge tub. No extra adapter needed.
  2. Chiller Outlet to Tub Inlet (Top):The Tub: Has a 3/4" Female thread. The Hookup: To connect the second OSONE hose to this female bulkhead, you will just need a standard 3/4" Close Nipple (Male-to-Male adapter - available upon request). Screw it into the tub first, then thread your OSONE hose right onto it.

Connect OSONE Pro Chiller with MODTUB

Connecting the Modtub (Tub Only) to the OSONE Pro Chiller is remarkably straightforward because their port sizing is an exact match.

The Modtub tub features two 3/4" Female NPT ports, and the OSONE Pro Chiller utilizes 3/4" lines, meaning you do not need to size down or restrict your water flow.

Follow these steps to connect them seamlessly:

1. Clear the Modtub Ports

When you buy the Modtub as a "tub only," it arrives with proprietary plastic union halves screwed into the back ports.

  • Action: Unscrew and remove these pre-installed union pieces completely. Once removed, you will see the bare 3/4" Female NPT threaded holes molded into the shell.

2. Prep the OSONE Adapters

The connection between the ModTub & the OSONE Pro Chiller requires 2 stainless steel adapters 3/4" Male NPT (not included but available upon request).

  • Action: Wrap the male threads of these adapters with 4–5 layers of Teflon (plumber's) tape wrapped clockwise. Do not skip this step. Metal threads screwing directly into plastic rotomolded tub threads will slowly weep water without a proper Teflon seal.

3. Thread Adapters into the Modtub

  • Action: Carefully hand-thread your taped OSONE adapters straight into the top and bottom ports of the Modtub. Once hand-tight, give them a gentle snugging with a wrench. Do not crank on them with excessive force, or you risk stripping or cracking the tub's plastic threads.

4. Connect the Hoses & Match the Flow Direction

Attach your OSONE shut-off valves and steel-braided hoses to the newly installed adapters. For a chiller setup to work efficiently, the plumbing loop must follow a specific direction:

  • The Bottom Port of the Modtub (Water Outlet) ➔ Connects to the Inlet (IN) port on the back of the OSONE Chiller.
  • The Outlet (OUT) port of the OSONE Chiller ➔ Connects back to the Top Port of the Modtub (Water Inlet).

Ensure the rubber washers included with the OSONE hoses are securely flat inside the hose ends before tightening them onto your valves to guarantee a completely leak-free seal.

Connect OSONE Pro Chiller with ICE BARREL 500 (IB500)

Connecting the OSONE Pro Chiller (1.0 HP) to your Ice Barrel 500 is actually an easier match than most other chillers because OSONE uses high-flow 3/4" connections.

The OSONE Pro Chiller includes a set of 5-foot steel-braided hoses and a kit with three stainless steel adapters. Here is exactly how the sizes and connections align to get them hooked up:

The Connection Specs

  • Ice Barrel 500 Ports: 3/4" Female NPT (recessed, molded into the tub).
  • OSONE Chiller Hoses: 3/4" connections on both ends.

Because both your tub and your chiller setup are standardized to 3/4", you will not suffer any water flow restriction or need to downsize to 1/2".

How to Hook It Up

The OSONE kit comes with stainless steel adapters, but you need to ensure you connect the 3/4" Male NPT adapters (not included but available upon request) directly into the connections of your Ice Barrel.

  1. Prep the Tub Ports: Wrap the threads of your 3/4" Male NPT adapters with 4–5 layers of Teflon (plumbing) tape wrapped clockwise. Do not skip this; plastic-to-metal threads will leak without it.
  2. Thread the Adapters: Screw the taped 3/4" Male adapters directly into the upper and lower Female ports on the back of the Ice Barrel 500. Hand-tighten them first, then snug them up gently with a wrench (do not over-tighten, or you can crack the molded plastic threads of the barrel).
  3. Attach the Valves & Hoses: Screw the OSONE shut-off valves onto those adapters, then connect your 5-foot steel-braided hoses.
  4. Route the Flow Correctly:Bottom port of Ice Barrel (Water Out) ➔ Connects to the Inlet (IN) port on the OSONE Chiller. Outlet (OUT) port on the OSONE Chiller ➔ Connects back to the Top port of Ice Barrel (Water In).
