HydroTub or HydroBarrel? Is one better for me?
Each product has its advantages. Both are designed for full body immersion meaning even those up to 6'5 can cold plunge neck-deep. For those looking for a more traditional, meditative tub setup, we recommend the HydroTub™. For those who prefer a more natural, upright plunge or you're limited on space, we recommend the HydroBarrel™. More details on both, click here.
Ice or Chiller for the Cold Plunge?
Ice or Chiller?
For those new to cold plunging, we recommend starting with ice as it's easily accessible at your local grocery store, reasonably priced and can help jump-start all the benefits. After a couple weeks of feeling the effects cold plunging has on the body and mind, you may be ready to invest in a long term solution. Ice is a great starting point but can only take you so far in terms of temperature and convenience. For more on cost and how to use ice in a cold plunge, click here.
0.5 HP or 1.0 HP Chiller?
0.5 HP or 1.0 HP Water Chiller?
There are many options when choosing a cold plunge chiller. We recommend prioritizing by cost, lowest temperature desired, time to desired temperature, cleanliness of water and noise. The cost is straight forward based on your budget. The temperature and time to desired temperature are the most important factors because of the limits both present. The lower in temperature and the faster to cool, the more HP and better tub/barrel insulation required.
The Standard 0.5 HP Chiller comes with a filter to remove debris such as dirt, hair, sand and other fine particles that may be in your water system. As this chiller does not come with bacteria killing mechanisms, this will require replacing the cold plunge water from time to time as well as thoroughly cleaning the inside of the cold plunge.
The Pro 1.0 HP UV Chiller comes with a 5 micron water filter to remove even the smallest of particles coupled with UV sanitation to kill bacteria. The cooling time from setup can be as short as 3-5 hours with ambient temperatures and desired cooling temperature being key factors.
Lastly, the noise coming from the chiller fans may be important depending on where your chiller will be located inside or outside the home. The Pro 1.0 HP UV Chiller emits a smooth, low vibrating noise from the single, large fan in the rear whereas the 0.5 HP Chiller is slightly louder with 4 small fans exhausting heat from the rear. The fans only operate when cooling and shut off automatically when the desired temperature has been met and will stay off up to the temperature set for restart. This is automated and can be adjusted on the digital screen. To read more on the different HP ratings, click here.
Can I buy the HydroTub or HydroBarrel separately from the chiller?
Yes, you are able to buy all of our products a la carte. We have customers who have bought the HydroTub or HydroBarrel during the cooler months and come back to purchase the Chiller for the summer months.
How easy is setup for HydroTub & HydroBarrel?
The HydroTub and HydroBarrel take 3-5 minutes to setup. It's as easy as opening the package, removing the plunge from the carry-all bag and inflating with the included inflatable pump. Inflate the lid as well and you're ready to go.
How easy is Chiller setup?
Chillers come with all necessary parts and instructions for setup. In a nutshell, there are 2 tubes connecting the Chiller to the HydroTub or HydroBarrel. The Pro Chiller is a much easier setup as the filter and the UV sanitation are pre-installed so you are literally just connecting 2 hoses on both ends. The Standard Chiller is more complicated as there are a few more parts required but the concept is the same. All in, the Chillers can be setup in 10-15 minutes. You'll need another 15 minutes to fill the HydroTub or HydroBarrel with water and you're ready to start cooling.
Can the Cold Plunge & Chiller be outside?
The HydroTub and HydroBarrel can absolutely be outside. The Chillers can also be outside and we highly recommend putting them under cover. For longevity purposes, all items should be under a covered area to prevent direct sunlight and direct exposure to the elements. Outside temperature directly affect cooling times and chiller output so keep this in mind during setup. Chillers operating indoors have proven to use less energy and are better protected from the elements and can increase longevity. For any additional questions, feel free to chat in!
